Johnny celebrated his birthday last year where he celebrated his 100th birthday and in an interview with the BBC, Johnny added that he was very lucky to witness the changes to see and also lucky in every aspect as he said in the interview. He passed away this Wednesday the 7th of December 2022, Wednesday and his demise news was released by his family. Johnny passed away in his sleep as per the statement released by his family. Johnny was born in 1920 and at the age of 21 in the year 1943, he took part in an operation that involved the experimentation of bouncing bombs. These bombs were targeted in the Ruhr valley and the targeted area was dams which released a huge quantity of water in Germany.

Born in Lincolnshire, Johnny used to live in Bristol where he participated in the experimentation. Johnny in one of his interviews added that it was an extremely exhilarating experience to take part in the raids and also have a chance to work in the war as well. In the year 2017, he also made an MBE which was a long-running campaign that supported the event and many celebrities and Tv presenters supported it including Carol Vorderman. Jenny Sexton posted o her Facebook saying that Beloved Gramps passed away while he was surrounded by his loved ones. Jenni is the granddaughter of Johnny and she added that the family needs private space to have some family time.

Johnny was the one who gave the idea of bombing the dam of Sorpe as it was part of the attack and which was also codenamed operation chastise. This was carried out by the RAF’s squadron at RAF Scampton. This operation carried out was one of the most dangerous operations of the world war as it was the one which involved many men including 53 killed and three captured as well. Johnny was a loved person to many people. In the last moments of his life, Johnny sued to attend many private and public appearances where he used to attend charity and donation works as well. He used to live in Westbury-on Trym in his last moments. After serving for 22 years in the air force and retiring at the age of 43, Johnny started working at Newark as a teacher in a school in Nottinghamshire and spend the rest of his life. He used to live along with his wife and they later moved to Devon and he became a councillor there. John Nicole, a war veteran and also a friend of Johnny added that all he remembers was that Johnny and he were close friends and he remembers Johnny with a glass of drink in one hand and raising a toast. He added that Johnny was a man who loved his nation and some red wine as well.
